6 Things You Never Knew About Mice

It is finally here! The six things you never knew about mice. I bet you've been waiting with baited breath. Well, you don't have to wait any longer. Sit back and enjoy these extraordinary tidbits you may have never known about mice.

    Mice are pigs!

You heard me. Pigs! No. They're not genetically related to pigs. They eat like pigs. Do you know that a typical mouse will eat fifteen to twenty times a day? That's seconds, thirds, fourths, fifths… well, you get the point. That is why mice prefer to live close to their food source. If you have mice in your home, you can bet they have a little nest in the wall voids of your pantry or kitchen.

    Mice are rabbits!

You've heard the term breeding like rabbits. Well, it should have been breeding like mice! A female mouse is able to start having babies at two months of age. They can have a litter every three weeks. Seriously. That is crazy.

    Mice are a petri dish!

If it isn't bad enough that mice like to wiggle around in dumpsters and trash cans, or crawl through a sewer pipe, they also carry diseases. Do you know that a mouse can carry as many as 200 human pathogens? What is most scary about this is many families don't even realize their sickness is coming from the mice that are living with them.

Mice are the Houdinis of the animal kingdom!

A typical mouse can squeeze through a hole the size of a dime. When you seal your home to protect it from mice, be aware that they can get through the tiniest gaps and cracks. And if they can't squeeze through, they'll chew through.

    Mice don't live long!

The average mouse lives to be about five months in the wild. That must be why they mate so aggressively! But given the right circumstances, they can live to be two years old.

    Mice are gold medalists!

If a mouse were to enter the olympics, they would definitely come home with the gold. Those little buggers can jump a foot into the air. That is why they are able to get up on to your counters or above your cabinets.

So there you have it, "six things you never knew about mice." Mice are clever, athletic little critters that chew everything and spread illness. If you have mice, get them removed immediately. If you feel like you have to have these incredibly cool rodents living in your home, get them as caged pets. Your family will be much safer for it.
